A/S Media Studies Coursework
Target audience

Given the violence, drug and crime references in Wake Up Call and based on the BBFC guidelines we believe our media product should be certified a 15 age rating.
http://www.bbfc.co.uk/what-classification/15
The BBFC guidelines state that a 15 rate film can include any and all of the following:
-
strong violence
-
frequent strong language (e.g. 'f***').
-
portrayals of sexual activity
-
strong verbal references to sex
-
sexual nudity
-
brief scenes of sexual violence or verbal references to sexual violence
-
discriminatory language or behaviour
-
drug taking
Wake Up Call includes strong violence and drug taking. For example the scene which includes the main character, Rob Walker, wiping away a line of referenced cocaine on the kitchen counter followed up a series of close ups whereby Rob is handling pills. The strong violence is referenced at the end of film with a close up of the wound.
Whilst it could be argued that Wake Up Call does not include many certification guidelines for a 15 rated film, there are aspects of the violence that a 12 rated film is strongly opposed to.
